If you’re looking for the angling adventure of a lifetime, you just found it! The ultimate guided fishing trips in southwest Florida, Michigan, or Montana await your pleasure with Capt. Tony Petrella and Capt. John Gospodarek.
Our "home waters" during the winter and spring range from Tampa Bay south through Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Sarasota, world famous "Snook Alley" in Venice, Charlotte Harbor, and Pine Island Sound. We even fish the Everglades.
During the Winter, our focus is upon baby tarpon, snook, redfish, Spanish mackerel, spotted sea trout, ladyfish, pompano, Jack crevalle--even cobia, King mackerel, tripletail, and bluefish!
Spring and early Summer means huge, leaping tarpon right off the beaches of Casey Key, Manasota Key, and Siesta Key.
Fisheries biologist Dr. Aaron Adams tells us that during the peak of the migration in May and June "several hundred thousand" tarpon will be roaming our nearshore waters.
Late Summer through September takes Capt. John back to the Madison, Yellowstone, and Missouri in Montana, while Capt. Tony floats Michigan's Manistee River and AuSable River in search of huge brown trout and gorgeous brookies.
October brings the wingshooting adventure of a lifetime, too!
If grouse and woodcock get your blood boiling, come visit the incredible hardwood coverts of Northern Michigan with Capt. Tony and his incomparable English setter, Ghost, and the "new guy"--Heart.
We averaged 6.5 flushes PER HOUR last fall, and Gun Dog Magazine recently named Kalkaska, Michigan number four on its Top 10 Wingshooting Spots in America.
Oh, yes. Kalkaska County is literally our back yard! Or, you can chase thousands of pheasants, Huns and sharptails across the cutover rye buttes of northcentral and eastern Montana with Capt. John and his big, tough Gordon Setter, Rye.
Better yet—book a Cast & Blast and combine the best of both worlds. Simply call Capt. Tony at 231-585-7131, or phone Capt. John at 406-646-9426 to reserve the best dates we have left for 2007 upland hunting.
Florida, especially, provides a great opportunity to introduce your (grand) son or daughter to the joys of angling.
They can use fly or spinning tackle in the gentle waters of the backcountry or Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) where the boat ride is pleasant and the sea trout and ladyfish most always will be co-operative.
We also have a core of regular clients who are happy to split the cost of a half-day, full day, or night snook trip. Just let us know if you're interested in meeting a new "fishing partner."
Simply send us an e-mail (tightloops@peoplepc.com) with your tentative travel plans and we’ll check the tides to make sure you’ll hit precisely the right time for the type of fishing you prefer.
While we obviously specialize in fly fishing, in Florida we also carry anglers who prefer to use spinning tackle and artificial lures. Sorry, we don’t do live bait!
In Michigan, Capt. Tony uses a classic AuSable Longboat to quietly glide down the Manistee River, which recently was named one of America’s Top 20 trout rivers, as well as the world-famous AuSable River, where Trout Unlimited was founded on July 15, 1959.
Capt. John uses a Mackenzie-style driftboat to navigate the Madison, Yellowstone, Henry’s Fork, and Missouri rivers, as well as guiding inside Yellowstone National Park.
Florida flats and backcountry angling is done by poling classic flats skiffs. Capt. Tony uses a Hewes Redfisher 18, while Capt. John has a Kenner 21.
We have special rates at several motels and lodges in Florida and Michigan, so don’t book accommodations until we’ve had a chance to discuss your travel plans.
We also can provide rods, reels, flies—even waders—if necessary. And in Florida the daily rate includes your fishing license.
So contact us today to book the angling or wingshooting adventure of a lifetime!
Tight Loops, Capt. Tony

FLORIDA
The tarpon bite is still on from Captiva north through Sarasota and lower Tampa Bay. The fish have been finicky at times, but reduced angling pressure is a big help.
Pinfish and pass crab patterns are best for fly anglers. Same, really for spin fishermen--IF you can find live crabs. They're in short supply this season, and EXPENSIVE!
Redfish in Lemon Bay have been moving around in the very warm water but the fishing can be awesome when you find the schools! Same for The West Wall in Charlotte Harbor.
The pre-dawn snook bite around the lights in Venice and Nokomis also has been excellent. LOTS of fish stacked up.
MICHIGAN
Water levels have started dropping and the Hex have started hatching. Gray drakes and Isos also are making life interesting for anglers between rain storms.
Everybody seems to think the Hex will last into July, so maybe we'll hit when I get back to Michigan July 10.
Don't forget that it's soon going to be Hopper Time--which means big browns feeding during the day. And the White Fly hatch isn't far off. Check your schedule and get with me to book some evenings in late August.
And to make things even better, I'm offering a SUMMER SAVINGS SPECIALl--$50 off a full day or half-day float. Use the savings for gasoline, lodging, meals, or whatever!
Remember the immortal words of Sparse Gray Hackle--"trout do not rise in Greenlawn Cemetary!"
Grouse and woodcock hunters should take a hard look at the calendar, too. I've already booked quite a few days in October, but some some prime dates are still available.
MONTANA
Capt. John's back in West Yellowstone, so contact www.jacklinsflyshop.com if you have a hankerin' to fish The Park, the Madison, or Missouri this summer.
